Our remote learning offer

At Our Lady Of Lourdes, our ambition is that throughout any period of school closure, children remain at the centre of everything that we do. We strive for exemplary practice in our provision in a rapidly changing context.

Remote Learning Offer is below and our Remote Learning Policy is attached at the foot of this page.

In the event of teaching switching to remote delivery, we agree to provide between 3 to 4 hours of learning each day that is a combination of our instruction and the time taken to complete pupils’ tasks.

We agree to provide an English, mathematics and foundation or RE lesson every day with a clear learning intention and expected outcome. These lessons will build upon previous learning in a sequence and because we know that direct instruction works well we will record these key lessons.

We will carefully consider how to model and scaffold the learning so that children will be able to access the tasks as independently as possible and to ensure that children can build their learning in carefully planned steps.

We will differentiate the learning to meet the needs of our learners. We will work with teaching assistants to provide individual interventions with pupils where necessary to help them reach our intended outcomes.

We will acknowledge uploaded work, but will mark or provide a recorded comment when it is needed to move the learning forward. We will provide weekly review meetings with our classes to gauge understanding and assess learning.

We will monitor pupil’s engagement with their learning and prompt them to engage via Class DoJo and then with a telephone call.

English

We understand the importance of phonics in developing early readers and so we will record this learning daily so children are enabled to learn their sounds.
We know that children need to be taught to form their letters and join their handwriting so we will model this for them and set tasks that allow them to practise.
We know that children need to learn how to spell and so we will enable children to practise their spellings using phonics where they can.

Mathematics

We know how important it is for children to have quick recall of key facts and so we will enable them to practise their KIRFs at home.
We know that arithmetic skills are the foundation of mathematics, so where necessary we will teach additional slots
