Children in every class have access to a range of high quality texts from our school library and each class has its own individual book corner.

Our school library is open every lunchtime for children to come and enjoy their favourite book. Our Year 6 Reading Champions help to organise the library and encourage readers lower down the school. 

We encourage reading for pleasure and each class has a chosen class reader so that children are able to listen to and enjoy a high quality text frequently.  

Children are expected to take a book home every day. Children are asked to read alongside an adult a minimum of three times each week, although reading every day is encouraged both for enjoyment as well as to develop their reading ability.

Accelerated reader

As a school we use accelerated reader to encourage reading for pleasure. Children have access to AR Quizzes so that they can assess their comprehension after completing a book.
