Life At Lourdes

Year 4 Victorian Day

Dec 14, 2016

This week Year 4 travelled back in time to the 1800's and experienced what school might have been like in Victorian times. Everyone made a great effort to dress up and behave as Victorians would have. The children made Victorian Christmas cards and paper chain decorations. They wrote on slates and practised writing in Victorian font. The peppermint creams were a favourite and were taken home in a home made cornucopia. The children were intrigued by the dunces hat and slightly nervous at the sight of the teachers wandering around with their canes. Playtime snack that day was gruel and it had a mixed reception. This first hand insight into Victorian life was great fun and the children wanted to do it all again the following day.
